Ann Curry

Ann Curry, an American photographer and journalist who has reported on wars and natural disasters for more than 45 years. She focuses on the suffering of people who live in these places. Curry has reported on wars all over the globe, including Kosovo Iraq Syria Lebanon Palestine Afghanistan Darfur Congo. Ann Curry (born on November 19, 1956 in the city of Agana) is an American television reporter, anchor as well as a journalist. Curry was best known as a correspondent on the Today Show, a daily morning newscast produced by the National Broadcasting Co. Curry became known in particular for her reporting on human rights crises, natural disasters and other emergencies that occurred within war-torn areas. Curry was the child of a U.S. Navy sailor and an Japanese woman. Curry's parents met in Japan which is in which her father was stationed following World War II. As a result of her father's military service, her family has moved quite a bit. Curry graduated from high school at Ashland Oregon. She earned a journalism degree in 1978 from The University of Oregon in 1978. Her exposure to different cultures and experiences during her upbringing may have influenced her empathy approach to communicating about global issues. The couple relocated frequently so Curry was not confined to one school for more than two years. She traveled extensively to locations such as San Diego Alameda Oregon and Virginia. Ashland is where she finished the high school. Her career in broadcasting began with an internship with KTVL Channel 10 Medford in Oregon. at the age of 22 she became the first journalist female for the station. She then moved up to anchoring and reporting for KGW which is an affiliate of NBC located in Portland. After four years, she was appointed a reporter by KCBS TV in Los Angeles. She received 2 Emmy Awards during the six years she spent with this station.
